Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi has been elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan, alongside BJP's Chunnilal Garasiya and Madan Rathore. The absence of competing candidates facilitated the smooth election of these three leaders to the Upper House from the state. Sonia Gandhi's victory adds another chapter to her political journey, making her the second member of the Gandhi family to secure a seat in the Rajya Sabha, following her previous term.

This election signals Sonia Gandhi's return to legislative responsibilities after opting out of contesting general elections in 2019, citing health and age-related reasons. Despite her decision to step back from direct electoral battles, Sonia Gandhi continues to wield influence within the Congress party and in national politics. With the composition of Rajasthan's Rajya Sabha delegation now reflecting six Congress members and four BJP members, the political landscape of the state gains further clarity.

Additionally, speculation arises regarding the potential entry of Sonia Gandhi's daughter, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, into electoral politics, with media reports suggesting a possible contest from the family stronghold of Raebareli in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
